Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most discussed topics in the scientific and social domains during recent years. However, a significant number of myths persist about its real capacities, its autonomy, and its impact on society.
In this scenario, the HDSP research seedbed organized the outreach talk “Myths and Realities of Artificial Intelligence” on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., in Room 103 of the Industrial Engineering building at Universidad Industrial de Santander.
The event’s main objective was to promote scientific communication and critical reflection on the technological and ethical aspects of AI. During the session, participants examined essential questions such as: Will AI replace humans? Is it truly autonomous? The discussion fostered a space for analyzing the genuine capabilities, current limitations, and potential risks involved in the continuous expansion of Artificial Intelligence.
Main Topics
- Demystification of autonomy, employment, and human intelligence
- Encouragement of critical and ethical thinking on AI development
- Reflection on the social responsibility of technology researchers
The session was held in a hybrid format — both in person and via Google Meet — allowing participants from different disciplines to join the conversation.
